Amsterdam Day 3

Day 3:

At the convention Center in AmsterdamWe woke up early,  and headed down to have breakfast in the Hotel.  The head chef was actually from Southern California, and had been living in Amsterdam for nearly 20 years.  He made us pancakes and french toast.  It was a great start to the day!

The two interviews later in the morning went very well.  One was with the CEO and the other interview was with the West Coast Regional Manager.  Both were very professional and very easy to work with.

Now that all of the interviews were done, we had a little B-Roll to shoot.

In the afternoon, we took a camera to the convention center and shot B-Roll.  It happened to be raining, but with an umbrella we had brought along we didn’t have any problems.  We shot a video blog which we’ll upload here later, but it goes into more detail about the room and what obstacles we had to overcome in order to film these interviews.

With all of the filming done, we were able to pack all of the equipment up in less than 2 hours.  Packing the tapes separately from the hard drives (which contain a copy of all the footage) ensured that no video would be lost or damaged.

Amsterdam Day 2

Julian Interviewing Day 2Day 2:

After getting approvals on all angles, we are ready to shoot!

We have 8 Interviews to film today.

After approving the angles and set decoration yesterday, today our client is watching and listening to the interviews taking place via a streaming video feed.  Each of the 7 interviews go just as planned, and all are on time!

Our client video / audio  feed proved to be invaluable in more than one occasion.  The client was able to add extra follow up questions, and gave us notes on what she like / disliked about the interview.  This will make editing the interviews much easier as we already know what messages she like from each of the interviews.

With 7 interviews done, and the sun setting, it’s time to get ready for 3 more interviews tomorrow.  We will also be shooting B Roll at the convention center nearby.

Amsterdam Day 1!

beforeandafterWeb Video Vision is in Amsterdam! After a 10 hour flight, we arrived yesterday and unpacked 5 cases of equipment to transform the hotel room into a studio.

We lit the room up with lights we brought and used props from the room to set decorate it. We had each of the cameras streaming a video feed to our client who was in Texas to see each angle and approve it. This saved the client Travel expenses and a 3 day trip to Amsterdam. With our Streaming Video View, they can “Virtually” be in Amsterdam and approve the shoot.

The first photo is the before shot. The next two photos are after we added all the equipment and props. Check back tomorrow to see images from the shoot.

Web Video Vision to the Rescue

For nearly a decade, Ed Gillow has been a spokesperson and personal friend of Web Video Vision. His great delivery, honest nature and sincerity have come through to make our clients look their very best on video.

It was disheartening to hear a week ago that his website was not working. In nearly a panic Ed sent an email to Julian at Web Video Vision to see if their was anything we could do to help. Our team worked together to find out what was wrong.

It seemed the site had been down for over a week and the previous webmaster couldn’t be found. With a little research and a few emails, we were able to track down the files to the website.

At 10:00am, Ed called us about his site, and by 2:00pm the same day, Ed’s site was safely hosted on our servers. His site was rescued by the diligent efforts of the Web Video Vision team.

We go above and beyond for our clients and for the people we work with. Ed is a valued asset to our organization, and we are so happy we could help him.

Whew, what a relief! I went to hopeless to happy within 4 hours! The people at WebVideo Vision are the best…. they didn’t have to go to the lengths they did, but they did & I am really glad they did. Talk about customer service!

Marketing in a lousy economy

I recently ran into an article by about how you should capitalize on the great marketing opportunities provided during a down economy.  One statement really stood out for me was:

In a study of 600 business-to-business companies, McGraw-Hill Research found that businesses that maintained or increased their advertising expenditures during the 1981-1982 recession, averaged higher sales growth during the recession and in the three years following. By 1985, sales of aggressive recession advertisers (those that either maintained or increased spending) had risen 256% over those that cut-back on advertising. Likewise, in 2001, another study found that aggressive recession advertisers increased market share 2 ½ times the average for all businesses in the post-recession economy

He has 4  reasons to marketing in a down economy:

  1. Cut through the clutter
  2. Convince them to spend on you
  3. Spend less and make a stronger impact
  4. Updating your Web site

Cabinet Makers Supply.com Video Shoot

[kml_flashembed movie="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/cms.swf" height="270" width="320" /]

We just completed CabinetMakersSupply.com eCommerce site, when the CEO asked us to duplicate the site – but in Spanish language.

The site has about 5000 products, ranging from knobs to woodworking tools.  It was designed in house and utilizes a very specific eCommerce software for maximum search engine friendliness.  It is so search engine friendly, people were purchasing items from the store when it hadn’t even launched yet!

One of the reasons why WebVideo Vision was asked to create this site, is Cabinet Makers Supply wanted to differentiate themselves from their competition.  One of the main things they wanted to do was have a video greeting at the home page.  It would add a personality and credibility to the site that their competition didn’t have.  WebVideo vision was perfect for the job!

Having worked with the company in the past creating print brochures and folders, we were prepared to undertake such a large job.

Normally a shoot like this – a large set, teleprompter, lights, sound equipment, cameras etc. would take hours to setup, at least 5 people to run all of the equipment, and a large grip truck to carry everything.  It would also take hours to setup and breakdown, and it still would need to be brought back to be edited.

WebVideo Vision’s Digital HD media console really made this shoot a breeze.  All of our equipment is packed into specially designed cases, allowing us to quickly setup equipment, and begin shooting.  No large grip truck required, we utilize compact high efficiency lighting, high end digital HD cameras and a portable teleprompter to create a studio out of any environment.  Take a look at the behind the scenes video I put together after the shoot to get an idea of what we did and what the final product looks like!

Drucker Day 2008

The Drucker School at Claremont Graduate University asked us to document Drucker Day 2008.

Daniel Yankelovich

Daniel Yankelovich

The keynote speaker was Daniel Yankelovich - a founding father of American public-opinion research and its preeminent practitioner. He is also the founder of the New York Times/Yankelovich Poll (now the NY Times/CBS Poll).

One of the challenges the university asked of us, was to have the keynote speech shot with two cameras, edited and online within 24 hours. We accomplished this with our HD Media Console.  Capturing all of the footage digitally, we were able to bring the file directly into the computer, encode and upload the file all within 24 hours.  You can see Daniel Yankelovich’s Keynote Speech Here.

Also during the day we interviewed people about their memories of Peter Drucker.  These videos will be compiled into the Drucker School Video Magazine Volume 9 which launches on December 8th 2008.  Email Me if you would like to be added to the launch announcement list.
